Deep Fork Refuge Conducts Controlled Hunts During October.
Southwest Region, October 31, 2004
Print Friendly Version
The refuge conducted four controlled deer hunts during the month of October, 2004. October 1 ? 3, and October 8 ? 10 were archery only hunts. October 15 ? 17 was the youth primitive hunt, and October 29 ? 31 was a deer primitive. All hunt drawings were conducted through the Oklahoma Department of Wildlife conservation's controlled hunt process. The refuge staff conducted a pre-hunt briefing prior to each of the hunts. Several of the kids on the youth primitive hunt were hunting for the first time, and were fortunate to harvest deer during this hunt.
