KENAI NWR Volunteerism Has Banner Year at Kenai Refuge

The 2004 field season at Kenai National Wildlife Refuge accounted for a record number of volunteers and hours of contributed volunteer work. People from all ages - young people in their teens to young at heart people in their 70s - 121 people in all contributed 20,047 hours of labor to the Refuge. This compares to 119 volunteers working 17,037 hours in 2003 and 67 volunteers putting in 9,669 hours in 2002. The 2004 volunteer work included help with biological studies, environmental education, trail work, and serving as campground hosts.
