Big Muddy Refuge Participates in Regional Sports Show
Midwest Region, February 8, 2004
Print Friendly Version
The Big Muddy National Fish and Wildlife Refuge staff and volunteers worked together at the Ozark Mountain Anglers' All Sports Show. The show was held at the Hearnes multipurpose building at the University of Missouri in Columbia. The show ran from February 6-8, and over 8,000 people attended the three day event.

Refuge staff were on hand to inform the public about the refuge and to provide maps, brochures and posters. Children were entertained with a button-making activity in which they could pick their favorite refuge animal or draw one of their own. The event was attended by a variety of outdoor enthusiasts. Many people inquired about the refuge and its regulations. The Friends of the Big Muddy had a sign up sheet available and were able to recruit several new members.

The Ozark Mountain Anglers have sponsored this event for the past several years. Agencies and organizations from across the state of Missouri are on hand for sharing the wealth of outdoor activities across the Show-Me state. This has evolved into one of the premier outdoor events in the state. The refuge took the opportunity to show them new opportunities on our growing refuge.
