On Friday, January 25, 2013, approximately 60 youth from the Topock Elementary School arrived at Catfish Paradise on Havasu National Wildlife Refuge for an Archery Day event. The event was staffed by USFWS employees from Havasu NWR, Lake Havasu NWR Complex, and the AZFWCO-Parker office as well as refuge interns, refuge volunteers, and volunteers from Friends of the Bill Williams River and Havasu National Wildlife Refuges. A safety and orientation range, games and skills range, 3D target range, a bowfishing range, and a bird/wildlife identification station were provided for the youth. A second Archery Days event will be held March 7-8, 2013 for multiple local area schools and will involve additional partners.
