Muscatatuck National Wildlife Refuge served as an outdoor classroom for a total of approximately 600 Jackson County third graders on October 9 and 11, 2012. The annual, day-long Conservation Field Day event was a cooperative effort between refuge staff/ volunteers, Purdue Extension educators, the Indiana Department of Natural Resouces and the Jackson County Solid Waste Management District. During the event students rotated through stations and participated in interactive activities where they learned about wetlands, wildlife, soils, recycling and trees.
