The holiday spirit was seen shining brightly in the Sacramento Fish and Wildlife Field Office this December as gifts donated by staff members to help those less fortunate came streaming in, and then out again and on their way to their final destination.

Ensuring there will be presents under the tree, the Gifts from The Heart program is an annual effort of the Sacramento County Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS).   This holiday gift-giving program is designed to provide holiday gifts to children, teens, and senior adults served by DHHS, Child Protective Services Division, and Senior and Adult Services Division.

The SFO has been participating in this program for approximately 14 years with great success.   Annually gifts for 75 to 150 recipients are purchased, wrapped, and picked up to be delivered each year.    In addition to the requested toys for the children and blankets for the elderly, this year five lucky children will receive a brand new bicycle under the Christmas tree thanks to the generosity of these outstanding federal employees.
